Over Day Kom Ombo Temple - Edfu Temple - Luxor

Your expert Desert Cruise Travel guide will pick you up from your hotel or Nile cruise in Luxor to begin a full-day cultural tour to the remarkable temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo. Enjoy a scenic drive along the Nile Valley as you travel approximately two hours south to Edfu, where you will visit the magnificent Temple of Horus, considered the best-preserved and most complete temple in Egypt. Constructed between 237 and 57 BC during the Ptolemaic period, the temple is dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god of kingship and protection. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the temple’s rich reliefs, inscriptions, and architectural layout, offering insight into religious rituals and daily life during the Greco-Roman era in Egypt.

After the visit, continue your journey for about 1.5 hours to Kom Ombo, located approximately 70 kilometers south of Edfu. Here you will explore the unique double Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to two gods—Haroeris (Horus the Elder) and Sobek, the crocodile god associated with fertility and protection. Built during the Greco-Roman period, the temple is famous for its symmetrical design, rare depictions of ancient Egyptian medical instruments, and an early representation of the ancient Egyptian calendar. After completing the tour, you will be comfortably transferred back to your hotel in Luxor.
