Ancient Thebes had two sides: the East Bank, where people lived and worshipped, and the West Bank, where the pharaohs were buried. This full-day private tour covers the main sights on both. On the West Bank you visit the Valley of the Kings, the burial ground of the New Kingdom pharaohs, and the Valley of the Queens, then the terraced Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut and the two large statues known as the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch you cross to the East Bank for the huge Karnak Temple, with its Great Hypostyle Hall, and Luxor Temple in the middle of the city. Hotel pickup and drop-off, a private Egyptologist guide and an air-conditioned vehicle are all included.
Full Day: Luxor West Bank and East Bank
Your day starts with a pickup from your Luxor hotel and a short drive to the West Bank of the Nile. You visit the Valley of the Kings, where the New Kingdom pharaohs were buried in tombs cut deep into the rock and painted with scenes for the afterlife, and then the Valley of the Queens. You continue to the terraced Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, set against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, and stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two large statues that once stood in front of a temple that has since disappeared. After lunch at a local restaurant you cross to the East Bank for the Karnak Temple complex, with its avenue of rams and the Great Hypostyle Hall, and finish at Luxor Temple in the centre of the city. Your driver then takes you back to your hotel.
