Day Tour to Philae Temple, High Dam & Unfinished Obelisk from Aswan

In the morning, a Desert Cruise Travel representative will pick you up from your hotel or Nile cruise in Aswan at 07:30 AM to begin a guided tour of the city’s main highlights. You will drive to Lake Nasser, followed by a short motorboat ride to Agilkia Island to visit the beautiful Temple of Philae, dedicated to the goddess Isis and considered one of the most romantic temples in Egypt. The temple complex includes the Temple of Hathor, Trajan’s Kiosk, the Birth House (Mammisi), and several shrines and sanctuaries, and was relocated to Agilkia Island as part of a UNESCO international rescue project after the construction of the Aswan High Dam. The tour continues with a visit to the impressive Aswan High Dam, one of Egypt’s most important modern engineering achievements, built to control the Nile’s annual floods and generate hydroelectric power. Your final stop will be the famous Unfinished Obelisk, located in Aswan’s ancient granite quarries, where you will learn how the ancient Egyptians carved massive obelisks using simple tools; had it been completed, it would have been the largest obelisk ever erected. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel or Nile cruise in Aswan.
